1948 Mexican .900 Silver Cuauhtecmoc 5 Pesos Circulated Coin

This 1948 Mexican .900 Silver Cuauhtecmoc 5 Pesos circulated coin was minted in Mexico City just after the end of WWII.  These very large and thick coins portray Cuauhtemoc, the last Aztec Emperor, who died 1i 1522, on the obverse and the Mexican Coat of Arms on the reverse and were only minted in 1947 and 1948. For those collectors who enjoy collecting coins and currency from other countries, this is a fine to extra fine addition to your collection.

I find the history of coins fascinating, but  I have been unable to find out why they only minted this particular coin for a two-year period.
